Pension MAJK built in 2002 is located in a beautiful area of Low Tatras – Hornohorska valley, in a village called Helpa. Original building – an unfinished store, we rebuilt during 1 year and changed the building aim.
We offer 48 single beds in 13 rooms(each room has its own toilet, shower). In our pension you can relax in a peaceful surrounding, as well as to take the opportunity of sport activities no matter what age you are. Besides pleasat accommodation and home made meals, there is a restaurant,bar, swimming pool, sauna, fitness, meeting room wiht TV, parking, playing field - everything in one comlex always provided with frendly manner.
There is a possibility of organizing folk performances performed by folk groups from Helpa.
If you like playing tennis you can do so in a tennis court which is only 5 minutes away walking from our pension.

Culture and art
Horehronsk days of folk songs and dances . In the village. there is an amphitheatre with the capacity of 3000 seats.Every year from 1966 in June a folk festival takes part in this place as a Horehronske days of folk songs a dances. Many foreign folk groups from EUROFOLK are presented on these special events.
The festival enables the folk groups present a folk of its region in a friendly atmosphere. On the other hand the spectators can fully enjoy the beauty slovak and foreing folk. At the end of May there are exhibitions of slovak and foreing folklor called – Kolovratok. In august there is esxhibition of army florkor chor, where you can also enjoy beaty of singing, dancing folklor .
Walking
Surely one of unforgetable memories will be walking through the village of Helpiansky Chotar and visit the Church of Saint Mary and see the local deer herds in a large enclosed paddock.
Traditions a Cumstoms
The village is trying to keep its cultural inharitance, although there is strong civilization growth, but thanks to a few strong minded individuals they have managed to keep the spirit of the old way of living.
Agro - Tourism
An unforgetable part of the beautiful Horehronsk Valley is it’s natural scenery and views.
In summer it is untouched nature, in winter times it is a romantic sunset.
In summer we recommed these walking trips:
Mountain Walk on Kralova (1946 m n. m.) and Orlov Hoľa (1840 m n. m.)
A whole day tour to the Peaks of the Low Tatras. Total time for the tour is around 9 hours.
On days of good visibility you can marvel at the wonderful views from Low Tatras of the High Tatras, Slovensky Raj and Slovak Rudohorie.
Take a mountain walk on Big Vapenica (1691 m n. m.)
Half a day tour takes about 5 hours. It is less dificult however, and also a unforgetable walk to the highest mountain peak around Helpa. It is possible to stop and drink by a fresh spring of iron-carbon mineral water with hight levels of CO2.
Mountain Walk Velky Bok (1727 m n. m.)
Whole day tour takes around 8 hours. It is an interesting tour that can be done in stages and has great views of the beautiful of the Low Tatras.
Muran Plateau
The tours are very interesting but are aimed at less discerning tourists.
Slovak Raj
It is only 2 hours away by car. It is worth a visit. There is the famous Dobsina Ice Cave (by train 40 min)
High Tatras
By car only 1,5 hours and you can visit the wonderful toursit centre.
Cycling
Offers a wide range of superb cykling trips. Your Fantasy will not be dissapointed.
Skiing Slopes
Winter in Horehronie will cast its spell over you and the skiing conditions are very good from December until March. In Helpe and its surrondings you can find these skiing slopes:
- Helpa 600 m (distance from Pension 1.5 km)
- Zavadka 1200 m (distance from Pension 3.5 km)
- Nova Masa 1300 m (distance from Pension 3.5 km)
- Polomka 1600 m (distance from Pension 9 km) snow machines
An added bonus is that the slope in Polomka is directly feeding into the cross country skiroute through the Valley of Hrdavo.
