TODOROFF Wine Cellar, is situated at the foot of the Rhodopa Mountains in the village of Brestovtza, only 18 km away from Plovdiv and 140 km. from Sofia. The Compex offers Wine Celler and welcomes its guests in an atmosphere of fresh air and beautiful nature, rich history and hosts’ eagerness to make you feel wonderful. Till the end of that year the new Hotel building in the Complex will be finished and will offer comfort and modern conveniences to the tourists. Till then the hosts of "TODOROFF" Wine Cellar offer accommodation in the local houses. Stay in touch, we will keep you informed!
The Cellar was found by Andonovi brothers in 1945 but restored to life in 2001, when Mr. Todoroff made total reconstruction of the building complex. Now the wine cellar is a pretty place, built in National Revival style and equipped to the most contemporary and modern technologies for wine production. The hosts have furnished it with style and close to the traditions of the Bulgarian country life. The cellar combines modern wine making equipment on the first floor with the impressive rustic architecture in the underground hall. Torches of wrought iron spread the light to make the wine-tasting special, while the wine stories fill the guests with the feeling of becoming one with the drink of gods.
In the cozy guest hall and tavern are held professional wine-tastings, which include local food specialties, lecture about the wine making' history and the ancient inhabitants on these lands – the Thracians and the technology of producing wine. Here people come along with friends for lunch or dinner and enjoy the delicious local cuisine in the pleasant atmosphere of the tavern or the veranda.
Brestovitsa village has always been a symbol of Bulgarian red wine and has given shelter to all who are looking for the pleasant comfort of the Bulgarian country side. The Wine Cellar offers a folklore program, performed by professional dancers, as well as demonstration of folk crafts during “sedianka” (local evening gathering of men and women). Women from the village show the tourists weaving, knitting, embroidery and spinning, sitting in authentically decorated place and singing songs from their home region. While on the sedianka the tourists can also try home-made banitza.
TODOROFF Wine Cellar produces wines not only of the dominating world grape varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but also of the typical Bulgarian one – Mavrud. Wine experts define the taste of both Todoroff batches Boutique & Teres as a combination of the so called New taste, established by the New World (California, Chili, Argentina, Australia, South Africa) and the classical traditions in wine making, presented by France, Italy, Spain. Despite its short history, the wine tasting in the cellar became very popular and won true followers among the aager and most devoted connaisseurs of the red wines.
Todoroff Wine Cellar is the perfect place to spend your holiday close to the nature and surrounded by genuine red wines. In the unique atmosphere of the wine tasting hall and the cozy tavern of the guests will be offered: - wine tasting with appropriate appetizers; - tour around the cellar accompanied by lecture on the varietals; myths and legends; wine producing technologies and methods of wine storage; - folklore program; - local cuisine specialties tasting. Here the wine is not promoted just as a product, but as an article combining history and art, for the pleasure of wine-collectors and connoisseurs.
