The Orava region, situated in northern Slovakia, with its surface of 1661 km2 and almost 125.000 residents belongs to the most splendid regions in the country endowed with many natural beauties and fascinating places of interest.
The town of Dolny Kubin (20.000 residents) is the largest ward and a cultural center of the region. In its vicinity is the birthplace of the greatest Slovak poet - Pavol Orszagh Hviezdoslav. Surrounding wilderness is rich in venison: wolves, bears, foxes, boars and squirrels are often traced here
The water axis of the region is created by Orava river, 112 kilometers long. Significance and virginity of local nature is displayed in abundant national parks (Tatras national park -TANAP, National park Mala Fatra), in Preserved Land Districts (Horna Orava, Velka Fatra) and National Nature Reservations such as the mountains Rozsutec, Choc, Babia hora, Rohacske plesa, Vysny Kubin, Biela skala, Banikov, etc
Many creations of nature and man can be enjoyed in Orava as well - the Orava Waterdam, the Orava Castle, Oravice thermal water spring (with the temperature exceeding 54oC), sea-water source in Oravska polhora, Sutov Waterfall (38 m), 250 meters long canyon Tesne with walls over 50 meters high or the valley Janošikove rawine, a secret hideout of the legendary Slovak hero-thief Juraj Janosik.
The climate (Orava is one of the coolest areas of Slovakia) and geographical conditions of the region provide many sports opportunities and also many ways to enjoy yourself and your leisure: hiking, alpinism and various kinds of winter sports.
Mountain Resort Velka Havrania dominates above the Velka Havrania Valley in the heart of the preserved Mala Fatra Massive, some 35 kilometers from the region's Capital Zilina and approximately 235 kilometers from the national Capital Bratislava.
In the Resort we offer our customers pleasant and modern accommodation in 4 suites and 14 standard rooms with 41 beds in total. Every room is furnished with a bathroom (WC + shower), satellite TV, telephone and radio-alarm. Hotel restaurant and café-bar with 60 seats, a tennis ground, Finnish Sauna, a swimming pool, mountain bikes, billiards, table tennis and a small gym are at your full-time disposition.
We also provide parking for 20 cars and a bus. There are 300- and 800-meters long ski lifts available close to the Hotel. In summer you can spend your leisure riding a horse, enjoy hiking, gathering berries or mushrooms in the surrounding woods.
As a special bonus, besides a smile from our staff, we would like to offer you a grill-house (Koliba) with a picturesque view and pleasant atmosphere within a few meters from the Hotel, where you can make your own-style barbecue.
